Melamine Phosphate (MP) Halogen Free Nitrogen Phosphorus Flame Retardant

Melamine Phosphate (MP) is a halogen free nitrogen–phosphorus flame retardant designed for clean combustion, reduced smoke, and strong char formation. During heating, MP releases inert gases and forms a protective char layer that suppresses flame spread and heat transfer. Its fine particle size and broad compatibility make it suitable for intumescent coatings, thermoset resins, plastics, rubber systems, textiles, and self-charring formulations. MP provides effective flame retardancy with minimal impact on mechanical properties.

Attributes

Key Features and Benefits

  • High flame-retardant efficiency supports intumescent and non-intumescent systems.
  • Halogen free formulation prevents toxic or corrosive halogen release.
  • Fine particle size (≤2.5 µm) enables smooth surfaces and uniform dispersion.
  • Strong nitrogen–phosphorus char-formation mechanism improves fire resistance.
  • Good compatibility with polymers, resins, coatings and additives.
  • Stable at elevated processing temperatures for thermoset and elastomer applications.
  • Maintains tensile and elongation performance across various matrices.
  • Versatile use as an economical replacement for antimony–bromine systems.
