Flame Retardants, Polystyrene (PS)

YS-8X Flame Retardant Masterbatch

YS-8X is a high-efficiency flame retardant masterbatch engineered for extruded polystyrene (XPS) and other PS-based foam systems. It uses a halogen-containing synergistic formulation combined with stabilisers and performance additives to deliver strong flame retardancy at low addition levels. YS-8X withstands XPS extrusion temperatures up to ≥300 °C while maintaining foam structure, cell uniformity, and mechanical integrity. It offers consistent dispersion, clean processing, and reliable fire performance across insulation, construction, refrigeration, and packaging applications.

Attributes

Key Features and Benefits

  • High flame-retardant efficiency supports strong char formation at low 5–10 percent loading.
  • Thermal stability ≥300 °C makes it suitable for high-temperature XPS extrusion.
  • Low addition rate preserves foam density, insulation value, and mechanical strength.
  • Reduced-halogen formulation offers cleaner performance than older brominated systems.
  • Uniform dispersion ensures consistent FR behaviour and stable foaming.
  • Maintains foam cell structure and reduces risk of collapse during extrusion.
  • Compatible with CO₂, HFC, HFO, and hydrocarbon blowing agents.
  • Pelletised form improves safety, feeding accuracy, and plant hygiene.
